DESCRIPTION: Carousel is often considered to be one of Rodgers & Hammerstein's most beautiful scores. It tells the story of Billy, a carousel barker, who is fired when he spends too much time flirting with the girls. He marries Julie, but grows progressively more ill tempered and depressed as he cannot find another job and is unable to provide for his growing family. He eventually turns to crime, but even at burglary he proves to be unsuccessful. Rather than spend the remainder of his life in jail, he stabs himself to death. When he reaches Heaven, he is denied entry because of his terrible track record. After 15 years Earth time, he returns to Earth for one day in an effort to make his daughter see the good that was in her father.

DESCRIPTION: Yes, we're essentially going to turn the Little Theatre into the Star Wars Cantina! In a futuristic universe, where Disco has ceased to be merely a musical form and has achieved religious status, danger lurks around every corner of a seedy cabaret (and the audience its patrons) presided over by the alluring and charismatic Saucy Jack. The dreams of the denizens of this cosmic cafe are as dead as the cabaret acts that are being murdered one by one. Then the Space Vixens, intergalactic super-fashion crime-fighters armed with the Power of Disco, arrive to remind us that if you believe in yourself and say it out loud… it will come true.

WHEN: By Appointment
PRODUCING COMPANY: Central Community Theatre
NAME OF SHOW: Jesus Christ Superstar

LOCATION: 1875 N. Cenral Ave., Phoenix 85004
PREPARE: What the audition will consist of - While the singing portion of the audition will likely be the deciding factor for this show, the ability to move well is a definite asset. Actors of all ages and races are encouraged to audition.
TIME: By appointment; email for appointment
DESCRIPTION: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR takes place during the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ in Roman occupied Jerusalem and environs. Although musicals based on biblical topics are not uncommon, Jesus Christ Superstar was considered controversial when it first opened in the 1970's. While audiences had no objection to a rock opera, they did object to having the last seven days of Jesus' life shown through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas. This musical takes advantage of the fact that Jesus was considered a rebel in his time.
